Andra Sawyer
Andra Jaclyn Dotsey, named after both of our grandfathers (Andrew and Jack), was born September 27, 1985, the youngest of my siblings and the only one not born in Lexington, Kentucky. She was born at Durham Regional Hospital in Durham, North Carolina. I remember the day she was born because Erin, Adam and I all got out of school early to be taken to see our new little sister and we were all given toys. People say that out of the four of us siblings, Andra and I look the most alike. We, the bookends, are also the two shortest.
I have more memories of Andra as a little baby simply because I myself was older at the time, being seven at the time of her birth. The first time she walked by herself (that I know of) was with me. I was holding her hands, walking behind her down the hall at our house on Newquay Street and I took my hands away, not really away- she was still touching them but I wasn’t supporting her at all, as she wobbled down the hall.
Andra is now married to Josh Sawyer and has a beautiful son, Jackson Sawyer, with a baby girl on the way. By the time I remember to update this I’m sure #2 (tentatively named Lila) will have been born. She graduated from UNC-Charlotte and works for Bank of America.
