Michael and Jenn engagedMichael and Jenn got engaged last night.  I mentioned a few days ago that Amanda had gone out to help Michael with something, and that something was picking out a ring for Jenn.  We and both sets of parents all knew it was coming, and Michael sent us all a text last night saying he was going to do it.  He and Jenn called us last night to give us the official word, but said they wanted to tell Milly.

They called to talk to her this morning, but I suggested we FaceTime, we that’s how they told her.  They also asked if she’d be their flower girl.  Milly was in a weird mood at the time, or maybe just wasn’t following everything, and seemed pretty nonchalant, even when Jenn said she’d make a pretty flower girl dress for her and explained that Michael was going to be her prince forever.  I don’t think it’s that Milly was disinterested, but she didn’t show the enthusiasm I thought she would.

Milly woke up at 4:00 this morning and called for me.  She told me she’d had a nightmare about an evil princess again, but once again it seemed like she had to think about it, so I was skeptical.  I had a talk with her about it and convinced her, after some fuss, to stay in her bed.  She wanted me to stay in the room for a little bit, so I did.  I might have dozed off for a few seconds.

I don’t know if it was because of that or what, but she didn’t wake up until a little after 8:00.  I was going to the door because Cyra was dropping off the puppies when I heard Milly get up, brush her teeth and go to the bathroom.

Milly spent a good chunk of the morning playing with her toddler princess dolls, then a bit of time sitting in the papasan in the office watching YouTube videos.  Amanda worked a little late today, but Milly was good pretty much the whole time, so it wasn’t a big deal.

I did have two phone calls today from referrals Scott sent my way.  I didn’t work on my own site at all today, which is good in that I was otherwise occupied, but I also want to finish it up before long, and I’m not really all that close.

Small group wasn’t just us and the Meyers tonight; David Sawyer joined us.  Summertime is rough for small groups, as far as attendance goes.  We’ve discovered that through the years and have come to accept it.  David was a welcome addition.  He brings up topics that aren’t always particularly on-subject, but they’re always good ones.

Tonight was for real Kookie’s last night babysitting Milly.  I talked to Milly about it during the day and she said she would be a little sad, but she’d be okay.  Kirsten told us they pretty much just played with dolls the entire time.  When she suggested they clean the room, Milly said something about how it was a good idea because Mommy would get frustrated, and then she would sell the house.
